Kendra Michelle is a Houston-based artist, muralist, and children's art instructor. Her experience includes the Salt Lake City State Children's Museum, Workshop SLC, and the Glassell Junior School. She is passionate about teaching children kindness and empathy alongside technical art skills such as color theory and value. She aims to teach children how to ask questions vs. teaching them answers. She believes that art is crucial to children's development as creativity at its core is about problem-solving. Her mission is to nurture, empower, and uplift each child's sense of self, authenticity, and confidence as an artist and little human.
Each semester, students will explore various mediums such as drawing, painting, mixed media, and sculpture. Every lesson will include a 10-15 minute discussion where students explore topics about art, history, and culture.
At the end of each semester, students will be invited to participate in a gallery show to showcase their unique work to the public. Students are welcome to invite family and friends to discuss their artistic process and inspiration.
